Quality Career Development: Making The Most Of CBI For Career ExplorationResearch indicates that quality career development programs and engagement in Work-Based Learning (WBL) before exiting school are critical factors that lead to successful post-school employment outcomes. Participation in relevant career exploration and community-based learning experiences is vital for preparing students with disabilities to achieve competitive, integrated employment (CIE). During this interactive training participants will learn how to implement best practices to enhance career programming for students with disabilities, effectively employ tools for creating authentic and meaningful workplace experiences, leverage diverse supports to guide students along their desired career paths, and explore comprehensive information-gathering techniques that support person-centered planning and promote informed choice, and self-determination.
Prerequisite: While it is not a pre-requisite, this training is intended to follow our Marketing Matters: Making the Most of Community-Based Instruction training, which establishes foundational knowledge on relevant employment legislation and initiatives and how to establish and maintain community partnerships to support career exploration.
Note: This training provides a total of 3 hours of professional development.
This training is currently ONLY open to NJ school staff.
Certificates: Certificates of Attendance with training title and duration will be provided.
Continuing Education Credit: NJDOE Professional Development Hours.
