Understanding And Addressing The Needs Of People With Dual DiagnosisDual Diagnosis is a term applied to the presence of both intellectual/developmental disabilities and symptoms of a psychiatric disorder. This course will review the basics of assessment, diagnosis, and support for individuals with co-occurring conditions, as well as review how unmet mental health needs may contribute to behavior change. Attendees will be able to identify strategies to coordinate behavior intervention with clinical supports for individuals with dual diagnosis.
Note: This training currently is ONLY open to employees of New Jersey DDD, DDD/Medicaid Approved Providers, and individuals with disabilities and family members.
In order to assure engagement and active participation, you must use a device with working camera. It is strongly recommended that you use a computer or a laptop with a strong WiFi connection. You must be in a stationary location (e.g. not driving, shopping, working, etc...). Phones and mobile devices are discouraged due to connectivity issues. Please connect with your employer in advance of the session. They should provide you with the technology and appropriate scheduling to successfully complete training required of your job.
To meet the training needs of the entire state, there is a limit of participants per agency for this course.
Prerequisite: Completion of Introduction to Positive Behavior Supports is strongly recommended
