"But They Won’t Understand:" Dispelling The Myths Of Grief, Loss, And I/DDThis workshop provides essential guidance for providers and professionals on effectively supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) through the complex processes of loss and grief. Participants will examine the various types of loss that individuals with I/DD may encounter, sometimes all at once, including the loss of loved ones, supporters, peers, routines, and familiar people and environments. Participants will learn how to identify, validate, and support all forms of loss, acknowledging their significant impact on individuals with I/DD and their support networks. Participants will gain practical strategies for providing compassionate and meaningful support to individuals with disabilities during times of loss.
Note: This training currently is ONLY open to employees of New Jersey DDD, DDD/Medicaid Approved Providers, and individuals with disabilities and family members.
To meet the training needs of the entire state, there is a limit of participants per agency for this course.
