Meaningful Days Leading To Fulfilling Lives: Prevocational Training ServicesFor some time now expectations for service delivery have been changing within our state to continue to mirror national trends and consumer preferences. Through this training professionals working in day services will develop a better understanding of what is driving the change in service expectations, such as the HCBS Settings Rule, and the role of the direct support professional in implementing these changes. Trainees will explore how the services they provide should be defined by the provision of quality experiences that lead to more fulfilling lives for those receiving services and prioritizes inclusion in community life. The training is designed to encourage day staff to think creatively about services, support strategies, advocacy and the development of community capacity.
Prevocational Training Services participants will discuss the description of Prevocational Training services as defined in the NJDDD Supports Program Manual. Participants will have the opportunity to practice developing strategies around this service delivery option that are based on general, non-job task specific skills as they learn about activities that could be part of effective prevocational training services.
Note: This training currently is ONLY open to employees of New Jersey CBVI, DDD, and DVRS, DDD/Medicaid Approved Providers, DVRS approved vendors, and individuals with disabilities and family members.
To meet the training needs of the entire state, there is a limit of participants per agency for this training.
