Holding The Compass 4: Step In Or Step Back? - The Evolving Dynamics Of School Partnerships

Parent advocacy can open doors, remove obstacles, and ensure that your child’s needs are truly seen. But for many families, advocacy feels like a battle, and during the transition years, it’s completely normal to question whether it’s time to step in or step back. Further, there is often not consensus between you, your child, and their school team about what your role should be in any given transition decision or task. In this session, we’ll explore the challenges of parent advocacy during the transition years and how to stay involved in ways that support your child’s growth, honor their emerging independence, and keep your relationship with the school team collaborative and grounded in trust.
