Strategies To Avoid Responses That Reinforce Dangerous BehaviorWhen challenging behavior escalates to dangerous levels of aggression or self-injury, it often becomes necessary for supporters to engage in intensive interaction with the individual. In extreme cases, this may result in the use of “hands-on” or personal control techniques to preserve health and safety. This webinar will address strategies to avoid escalation, in order to reduce the need to use these extreme interventions. In addition to this, techniques will presented for managing interactions with the individual during and following a crisis intervention that are designed to reduce the likelihood that the individual will learn these problem behaviors are a good way to get a reaction from those that support them.
Note: To meet the training needs of the entire state, there is a limit of participants per agency for this course.
