Virtual Community Of Practice (VCoP) Session 2: Educating Together: How Schools And Law Enforcement Can Collaborate To Support Individuals With Special NeedsJoin us for a virtual Community of Practice highlighting how one school district has successfully partnered with local police departments to create safer, more inclusive communities for individuals with special needs. During this session, participants will learn about strategies for engaging law enforcement as allies in supporting students and families, and learn how the district developed professional learning opportunities to help officers better understand disabilities, communication differences, and effective interventions. Through this collaborative approach, schools and police have built shared language, trust, and proactive systems that promote positive interactions and reduce crisis responses. Participants will walk away with practical examples and ideas for replicating similar partnerships in their own communities.
